About Classes::

-Combining Observation/Witnessing/ Supportive Engagement/ Play Time for Infants with Parent/ Caretaker Education regarding Movement Development-

Why IMA?

Touch and Movement are underlying senses underneath all of the perceptual senses. The intentions of an IMA class are for both Infant and Caretaker: 1) to provide time, space and support for Infants’ Movement to be supported, witnessed, held and tracked in mindful curiosity by the Educator and Caretaker(s) together, and 2) to provide time, space, and support to complement Caregiver’s understanding of and relationship to their Infant’s movement development.

What will happen at an IMA class?

The IMA experience is, first and foremost , an opportunity “to be” and “to be enough” right as we are, right where we are. From this attitude, the space is open to allow Infants to play according to their interests. While Babies play, the educator offers individualized support to caregivers, including: Joining in mindful observation, play, and interaction with Baby; information regarding “where they are/ what might come next” developmentally; and discussions/ tips/explorations in real time regarding the practical matters of regulation, handling, positioning, transitions, toys, etc.

Who might come to IMA?

Infants and their Parent(s)/Caregiver(s) are welcome to attend. Expecting parents are also welcome. (*To support undivided caregiver attention for infant for duration of your visit, older siblings are not generally encouraged to attend).
